Horning Brothers has a long-standing commitment to the communities in which our properties are located.
Joseph Horning has worked with six of the seven non-profit community development corporations (CDCs) chartered by Washington, DC. A belief that education is the most essential tool for economic advancement has led him to create after school education programs and adult job training programs in Horning Brothers’ moderate-income communities. He is serving or has served on the Boards of the Higher Achievement Program, the Charter School, Carroll High School, and City First Bank, the first federally chartered community development bank.
Horning Brothers’ CEO, David Roodberg is serving or has served on the Board of National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), Hope and a Home, Washington Tennis and Education Foundation (WTEF) and the DC Public Schools Industry Advisory Board for Business, Finance and Marketing.
Horning Brothers is actively involved in other community programs such as Christmas in April, CityYear and encourages its employees in their civic involvement.
